Camp Directors 2010

Melissa Lovell and Steve Gadler have completed their three year committment as Camp Directors of Sibling Camp and Resident Oncology Camp.

Tuna and Gator

Melissa "Gator" Lovell has been involved with many American Cancer Society events and programs over the years, in addition to her primary involvement with Sibling Camp.  She has also volunteered at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Courageous Kids Day, Teen Winter Weekend, Day Camp and Resident Oncology Camp.  Melissa has also served as team captain of the Hewlett Packard Relay For Life team at both Mira Mesa RFL and Point Loma Nazarene University RFL.  ACS formally thanked Melissa in 2009 by awarding her the Volunteer of the Year Award.

Gator is also a three time-Food Wheel Champion with a career record of 3-2 in the title round.  Thank you, Gator, for your tireless efforts in the fight against cancer; thank you for your continued love and committment to the campers of Camp Reach for the Sky and of other ACS programs; most importantly, thank you for three strong years as Sibling Camp Director!

HAVE YOU GOT THE SPIRIT?  Stephen "Gabby" Gadler has also been involved with the American Cancer Society events and programs for many years.  Steve started his ACS involvement in 1996 at Resident Oncology Camp, where his co-cabin counselor was Yoda, and one of the CAMPERS was Chris Gish. . .oh, how the time flies.  Stevo has served in many roles over the years, from cabin counselor, to program staffer, then program director, and even to camp director.  As we all know, "Steveeeeeeeeve" has brought tireless enthusiasm, an infinite amount of glow sticks, and a genuine energy to camp.

Stevo is also a founding member of the "Campstreet Boys."  Undoubtedly, he has the best singing voice of the fractioned (but rumored to be returning to ROC 2011) camp boy band.  Stevo, thank you for your commitment to the pediatric cancer population.  Your dedication to CR4TS, CKids, RFL, MSABC, and S.O.M.B.F.A.B for the past decade has truly made a difference in the lives of many.  Thank you for three strong years as Resident Oncology Camp Director.

Gator and Gabby make a difference...
