Introducing!!!

VuDoo and Gabby
The Doctor is in... DR. VUDOO
“I think I can still make a difference in the camper’s experience at camp.”
Soft spoken yet sneaky, and usually found beyond the lens, Dr. VuDoo has been with CR4TS for the past 11 years as a ROC Program staff member (P Team Unite!), and is looking forward to returning, as usual, to the hollowed grounds.
“Seeing how returning campers have grown since the year before is what I look forward to. For the most part, I don’t recognize them; it’s amazing how much change happens in a year. Kids that are off treatment, kids that have gone through growth spurts, kids that have grown into their adult faces.”
A year makes quite a difference when measured in time. It’s funny how it feels like forever yet also like no time has passed at all. Let’s chalk that down to the CR4TS magic.
Some of his favorites? Dr. VuDoo enjoys the Corner, a lovely set of picnic tables under a bunch of shady trees that the campers can sit and hang out, play board games, do arts and crafts or simply catch up. “This is where the kids are just themselves.”
Though, the 2011 July 4th Glow Stick Fireworks Show does bring great joy to the Dr. as well. “It was one of those last minute things. It just happened that a few counselors brought glow sticks, way more than the regular Steve batch. We had staff that believed the show could work.  It’s not easy for 1st year counselors to say “Yeah, taping glow sticks to hula hoops and then dancing with them, that’s easy to do…”  Getting 15 staff members to make an idea that was thought up 7 hours before, with no time to practice, that’s the camp spirit, the can-do, even-if-it-all-falls-apart-but-who-cares attitude.”

And of course, he is part of the Spice Girl fan club. “Come on! Who wasn’t emotionally lifted or ruined by Bob Cota or Alan Hughes?”

The Dr.’s pre-camp preparations? Sleeping 3 hours the night before. “It’s tough to get rest knowing you will be seeing familiar faces that you have bonded with over 10+ years.”
And entering reality?
“I have a wife and 3 kids. Reality slaps me in the face very quickly.”
Funny how living at Camp for a week with 100+ kids (most teenagers) is our view of fun and for most, vacation time….
Camp Makes a Difference!
