Come RUN with me!

Why do I walk/run/crawl?

Each year, too many children, women, and men are affected by cancer. I do it for them.

I also do it for those of you who will never have the chance to run. I am your feet and your voice.

I do it for organizations that aid support groups, better treatments, and outreach programs, such as Seany's Camp Reach For The Sky—a free summer camp for kids affected by cancer.

And I do it because no one should experience the suffering, pain, and tears that I went through.

When I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, I was just three years old, living in Chile with my family. My father worked for the U.S. Embassy, so as Chilean diplomats, we moved to America so I could get good treatment.

My struggles with cancer as a child were horrific. Ever heard of a sternum tap? I had one at the age of five; I didn't know the language or why they were hurting me. For me, there were no specialists, no digital medical equipment, no gel to numb the pain, no specialty tape for wounds, no translators, no music therapists, no support groups or educational programs for families, no summer camps for kids with cancer, no fundraisers, and no global outreach. There were just needles and experimental drugs and pain I couldn't understand. I felt alone in my dark world, not knowing English, and not knowing what was wrong with me.

Yet I survived. Two relapses and a battle that lasted for 7 years—from age three to 10—and I’m still here, living in remission for over 20 years.

So today I vow to walk/run/crawl for you, your child, wife, husband, grandparent, neighbor, and best friend, until we are all safe from cancer. And I do it for The Seany Foundation, a nonprofit organization that devotes help to those in need...a foundation that reaches out to someone like me—a foreigner seeking medical help, seeking an extended hand in a time of fear and pain.

I support you all with the steps I take, and I am your dollar. I am that face that represents every dollar of your generous donation. I will walk, run, or crawl for you and the kids with cancer that your donation will serve.

Thank you, God. Thank you, America. Thank you, The Seany Foundation. And Thank you, generous Donor.

My name is Jose SanMartin and I am your dollar.
